Former
Professor Hong Dae-sik is currently a full-time professor of economic law at Sogang University's Law School and serves as the director of the ICT Law
and Economics Research Center. Before joining academia, he served as a judge at various courts, including the Seoul District Court, for 10 years and worked as a
member lawyer at Yulchon LLC for about 5 years. He holds a Bachelor of Laws, Master of Laws, and Doctor of Laws from Seoul National University, and has been
a visiting scholar at the University of London in the UK and UC Berkeley in the USA.
His academic interests include competition law, consumer law, broadcasting and telecommunications regulation law, personal data protection law, and law and economics.
He has presented numerous papers at various journals and conferences both domestically and internationally. He provides expert advice to central administrative agencies
such as the Fair Trade Commission, the Korea Communications Commission, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Personal Information Protection Commission, the Ministr
y of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Justice, the Financial Services Commission, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and
Tourism. Additionally, he offers his expertise to the National Assembly, the judiciary, various government-affiliated research institutions like the Korea Legislation Research
Institute, the Korea Information Society Development Institute, the Korea Development Institute, the Korea Internet & Security Agency, the National Information Society
Agency, the Korea Communications Agency, and the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency. He also provides consulting services to civil and economic organizations such as
the Korea Consumer Agency, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Korea Economic Research Institute, and the Federation of Korean Information Industries.
